Painting in Words – 1

There, across the river and beyond the trees, somewhere at the base of the mountains, where the land reaches towards the sky – there is a shimmer. I first saw it years ago, and have been unable to unsee it. It calls to me, tells me to leave behind all I know on this side. There is something waiting there for me, I am sure of it.

And so I have stowed away all that was once important to me. I have seen through the nature of reality, learned its tenets, and recognize now what I am: a kernel of being, a whisper of truth in a sea frothing and foaming to be.

I am all that there is, I am all that there was. Beyond me is nothing, before me, nothing. I am the essence of the vacuum contained; I am the beginning, I am the end. And that shimmer is me, pining for me; that distance is me, striving to be; as I let go, I know that I am not truly letting go, but being given. Everything is a blessing, and the greatest blessing is to give freely. To give up is the greatest gift one can give oneself.

Give up being to be evermore.

I give freely. Not because I must, but because I am; because to give is to be; and I am nothing if not I am.
